As most K-12 children rarely have the opportunity to attend the world-famous Philadelphia Flower Show, Fresh Artists designed a way to bring the Flower Show to the children! Through the generosity of 20 award-winning nature photographers, Fresh Artists built a teaching gallery of astonishing close-up photos of orchids, poppies, roses, waterlilies and other common and exotic specimens. The Teaching Gallery was made available to hundreds of art teachers in Philadelphia, Camden, Norristown and Chester public schools. The children were challenged to adopt a flower and paint or drawa “portrait” of that powerful flower – like a portrait of a person!
More than 2,250 children accepted the challenge!
All artwork will be installed at Jefferson Station during Flower Show Week, and selected art is part of the Fresh Artists Mobile Museum of Mini-Masterpieces, wrapping a SEPTA bus, a Regional Rail train car and two subway trains delighting millions of people for 12 months!
